Qualified UKA dance instructor Peter started learning dance in 1999 and has visited Cuba on numerous occasions to continue his professional development. Peter has been teaching in Tyne & Wear since 2005 and is a lover of the Cuban dance style with a particular passion for La Rueda. He places particular emphasis on the basics, confidence building and ensures most importantly, that his students have fun. He says its fun when it works and even funnier when it doesn’t.
Peter started dancing Salsa in 1999 and in 2005 started Salsa Simplemente in the Tyne on Wear area. Peter is a qualified UKA dance instructor and has visited Cuba on numerous occasions for further professional development.
Peters classes and events have grown in popularity and In 2009 he was very flattered to win Salsa York's Twelfth Night Extravaganza Award for Services to Regional Salsa, having come third then second in the previous two years.
His interest in Cuban music and dance gives him a preference for Cuban style salsa which can be vigorous or gentle, it can be very intricate but it's also very fluid, expressive and a great deal of fun.
Peter also loves La Rueda, the Cuban-style group dance which is fabulous to watch and great fun to do – and even more fun when it goes wrong.
Peter has taught at numerous Salsa feel the heat events and it is a great pleasure to have him back with us once again.
